River Trent, Besthorpe

Brief description of fishery:

The club leases 2 lengths, upstream around the bend, and downstream through the gate. The Club has come to an arrangement to lease the Parish Council pegs on this stretch of water. The only proviso is that we give way to anyone from the village wanting to fish these pegs. Not a big issue as there’s only a few anglers that use these pegs. The benefit, along with these being good pegs, is that this stretch will no longer have day tickets. The upstream bend is particularly noted for its chub fishing.

In between our two stretches is a clearly marked, private stretch run by The Iron and Steel Angling Club. SAA members are NOT allowed to fish these pegs.

The upstream pegs are accessible on foot only.

Night fishing is allowed on this venue – see instructions at the bottom of this page

The statutory coarse fish closed season applies to the River Trent (No fishing is allowed between March 15th – June 15th Inclusive)

Dawn to duskFishing times

Night fishing, which in this context means both fishing all night or for just a couple of hours after dark, is allowed on this venue subject to the following:

  1. You have purchased an SAA night permit (this is currently only available to those who have previously purchased one).
  2. You have sent a text message to 07943651992 stating your full name, your membership number, the venue and the date that you intend to night fish. This is to show that the club is proving to adhere to the conditions of the lease and in addition the Club’s insurance requirements. Your health and safety is our No1 concern.
