Chesterfield Canal

Brief description of fishery:

Fishing is dawn to dusk only – Fishing times

No fishing is allowed with 25 meters of a lock, as per CRT rules.

The statutory coarse fish closed season applies to parts the Chesterfield Canal.

From the basin at West Stockwith, heading west to Bridge 80 on Gringley Road (B1403), fishing is allowed all year round.

However, continuing westwards from Gringley Road to the end of our stretch just before Drakehole Tunnel, the canal is designated as a SSSI so the close season applies. No fishing is allowed between March 15th – June 15th Inclusive.

Access

Since joining forces with Sheffield and District AC we now have the Chesterfield Canal. It runs from the West Stockwith Marina, through Misterton and on to Drakeholes Tunnel (B6045). The Stretch from the Marina as far as Gringley Road (B1403) is open 365 days of the year.

The remainder towards Drakehole is not fishable during the close season as it is subject to SSSI regulations.
